Les Macarons

by Adele

He Loves, He Loves Me Not...
As a Valentines treat for Ian, I wanted to surprise him with some homemade Macarons. I had a feeling this was going to be my toughest culinary challenge to date, so I set about finding a suitable recipe here. The pink shells fitted in perfectly with my Valentines theme & I knew Ian would love the White Chocolate ganache filling...yummy!
I also found some fab inspiration based around the retro Love Heart sweets (see below).

The actual making of the macarons was easy enough, but piping them so they formed an even circle & that perfect "hamburger" look was another matter altogether!

My inspiration...
source: bubble & sweet.blogspot.com

The making of the macarons...

And for the white chocolate ganache...

My attempt at piping the writing (I was a tad disappointed with this)!

But loved the overall results of the macarons!

I was really impressed with the authentic taste & texture the recipe produced...however the whole process was quite time consuming...it was definitely a labour of love!!!

Happy Valentines Ian xoxo
