Happy Monday Lovelies!
Our week at Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort got off to the perfect start with the warmest of welcomes we've ever received.
The hotel is situated in Fujairah which is approx a 90 minute drive from Dubai airport. Having arrived in the middle of the night it was nice to have a swift, efficient check in & be shown to our room to catch up on some much needed Zzz's.
We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a Club room on the 15th floor, where further welcomes awaited us in the form of Champagne, chocolates & a large bowl of fruit. The room had been beautifully decorated for our arrival with red petals - I instantly felt this was going to be a home away from home.
The room was a really decent size, modernly furnished with a king size bed, sitting area with sofa & coffee table, desk/workstation, walk in wardrobe & spacious bathroom with separate bath & walk in rainfall shower, as well as a balcony overlooking the Indian Ocean.
I loved that even on the 15th floor you lay in bed & listen to the waves gently lapping on the sand....so relaxing!
I could have sat & stared at the view from our balcony forever - especially the spectacular sun rises - worth getting up early to see...
The room was superbly equipped with a giant flat screen TV with satellite, a DVD player, iPod docking station & espresso machine.
At first, I didn't realise this whole chess set including the board was made entirely of chocolate...notice there's a piece missing when we took this shot...ooops, I couldn't resist!
Throughout our stay we were thoroughly spoilt by our room attendant with the most delectable in room treats, fresh water, fresh orange juice & fruit bowl....very hard to resist!
Our plan for the week was to relax in the sun, recharge our batteries & not really have to do or think about anything else. For this, the hotel is perfect as the service is truly exceptional. Each member of staff genuinely aimed to please - nothing was too much trouble. You didn't even have to fetch your own drinks round the pool or on the beach!
If you are looking to go out & about more, maybe explore Dubai I'd recommend staying in Dubai itself due to the distance this hotel is away from Dubai. The hotel does have a shuttle bus that takes you to/from Dubai but as we've been to Dubai before we didn't fancy the 3 hour round trip!
Non - motorised water sports were included in our package.
Each morning I went for my morning swim before breakfast (I had to work those chocolates off somehow!!!). I love this time of day - there's no one around except for the grounds staff & pool attendants who work incredibly hard to keep the resort in immaculate shape.
I adore a well made decaf cappucino & will often have one in preference to a dessert, so was impressed that Illy coffee was the hotel's preferred stockist. We drink Illy coffee at home, so it was a real treat to also drink it while we were away.
A special thank you to Eman, the hotel's head barrister. Trained in Italy by Illy, Eman gave me a little lesson in how to make the perfect cappucino & impressed me with his coffee art.
can you spot my face...he even drew my eye lashes!!!!
What I loved about the hotel was the amazingly positive attitude all the staff had - they genuinely wanted you to have the best possible stay at the hotel & would definitely go the extra mile to ensure this was the case.
The food was truly delicious - if you didn't catch my post on the food, take a look here.
A massive thank you to everyone at the Le Meridien Al Aqah for making our week truly memorable...until we meet again!
Have a wonderful week Lovelies
